The 2026 VALORANT Game Changers Championship begins on 22 October in São Paulo, Brazil, bringing together ten teams from North America, EMEA, Pacific, China and Latin America. The event runs until 1 November at the Riot Games Arena, where the final will decide the last international VALORANT title of the competitive year.
São Paulo gives the tournament a strong setting. Brazil has an established VALORANT audience, and Team Liquid Brazil will compete at home after winning last year’s Game Changers Championship. The defending champions face a field that includes former winners, new regional leaders and one final team emerging through the Americas Last Chance Qualifier.
There is always an element of uncertainty in an international bracket, but that is very different from the chance-based play found at an online casino. In VALORANT, teams earn their results through map preparation, agent selections, aim, utility use and their response to pressure across a series.
The competition will begin shortly after the Last Chance Qualifier in Brazil decides the final Americas representative. That gives the eventual qualifier little time to rest, but it also means they will arrive with recent LAN experience and competitive momentum.
Team Liquid Brazil defend their title at home
Team Liquid Brazil enter the Championship as the reigning winners and one of the main teams to watch. Their 2025 success stopped Shopify Rebellion Gold from completing a third consecutive title, adding an extra layer to this year’s meeting.
The home crowd could give Liquid an advantage, particularly in close maps where communication and confidence can shift a round. It also increases the pressure. A local favourite will receive huge support, but every loss is likely to feel louder in front of its own fans.
Liquid qualified by winning the Brazilian Final. That route underlines the strength of the domestic scene, which continues to provide a competitive environment for Game Changers teams throughout the year.
A title defence would make Liquid the first team to win consecutive Game Changers Championships since Shopify Rebellion Gold’s earlier run. They will need to manage expectations as well as the opposition, because the 2026 field is broader than a simple rematch with one North American rival.
Shopify Rebellion Gold are chasing another global trophy
Shopify Rebellion Gold remain one of the best-known names in Game Changers. The North American side have already won the world title twice and arrive in São Paulo after another strong regional season.
Their experience at international events is a major asset. Players who have handled elimination series before tend to be calmer when an economy is damaged, a map starts badly or a deciding round approaches. That does not guarantee success, but it can make a difference when a series becomes close.
The team have earned their place by winning North America Stage 2. Their objective in Brazil is clear: reclaim the trophy that Team Liquid Brazil took away in 2025.
A potential meeting between the two sides would be one of the tournament’s biggest draws. It would place the recent history of the Game Changers scene against the energy of a Brazilian home crowd, with neither team needing extra motivation.
EMEA bring three teams to São Paulo
EMEA have the largest representation at the Championship, with G2 Gozen, Gentle Mates GC and SK Nebula all qualifying through circuit points and regional results.
G2 Gozen bring a long record in the Game Changers scene and know how to play under international attention. They may not enter as the defending champions, but they remain a team opponents will prepare for carefully because of their experience and ability to adjust during a series.
Gentle Mates GC and SK Nebula represent a changing EMEA picture. Both have done enough across the season to earn global opportunities, giving the region three different styles and approaches rather than a single dominant representative.
That depth could help EMEA in a ten-team event. Teams have more recent footage available for regional rivals, but they may be less familiar with the tendencies of Pacific and Chinese opponents. The first international matches can reveal which regional strategies travel well.
Pacific, China and Latin America add new match-ups
Gen.G GC and FENNEL qualified through the Pacific circuit. Their presence gives the Championship a wider pool of tactical references, particularly for teams used to playing only North American or European opponents.
Pacific teams often arrive with less international exposure than the largest organisations in EMEA and North America. That can work in their favour during the opening days. Opponents may have fewer recent maps to study, while unfamiliar agent combinations or defensive setups can make preparation more difficult.
Nova Esports GC will represent China. The region’s appearance adds another significant VALORANT audience to the Championship and gives Nova the chance to test its style against teams it does not regularly meet.
KRÜ Blaze qualified through the Latin American regional final. Latin American teams have regularly shown that they can trouble better-known opponents through aggressive retakes, confident aim duels and a willingness to take risks when a round appears lost.
The final team will come through the Americas Last Chance Qualifier, which is taking place in São Paulo before the Championship. That team will arrive with a harder route, but it will also have faced recent matches with a global place on the line.
The event can change a team’s entire season
A world championship is more than a final tournament after regional play. It gives players a chance to show that their results can hold up against different approaches to VALORANT.
The important details will emerge quickly. Can a team maintain its defensive structure after losing the pistol round? Can it adapt when a familiar agent composition is banned or countered? Can it reset after a difficult map instead of carrying frustration into the next one?
The Championship’s schedule gives fans more than a single weekend of matches. The tournament begins on 22 October, continues through the end of the month and concludes with the final on 1 November. As teams are eliminated, the focus will shift towards the sides with the clearest identity and the most reliable decision-making.
Team Liquid Brazil have the chance to defend their title in front of a home audience. Shopify Rebellion Gold want their third global trophy. G2 Gozen, Gentle Mates GC, SK Nebula, Gen.G GC, FENNEL, Nova Esports GC, KRÜ Blaze and the Americas qualifier will all have a route to the same prize.
São Paulo will decide which team is ready to take it.
